The
Author
Born
in Mississippi, I grew up in Memphis, where I began a career
with the Social Security Administration. My job moved me
around to Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi,
before I settled for good in Florence, AL. Taking advantage
of an early retirement option, I retired from my position
as Assistant District Manager of the Social Security Office
at Florence in 1990 at the age of 52.

A couple of
years later I went back to work as Executive Director of a local
non-profit Hospice organization. Two years after that, I again retired,
returned to Hospice to fill in as Director for a brief interim period
a couple of years later, and finally retired for the third time!
I am married and have two grown children.
My genealogy
interest did not develop until retirement. The advent of the home
computer age has helped me find and become friends with Crowson
relatives all over the country. The wonders of email and the internet
have been invaluable to me in making the writing of the book possible.
My second favorite hobby is model railroading.
