Why
Write a Book?
My father (see my Dedication
page) was a pioneer in Crowson genealogy, and I grew up
hearing him talk about the family history, which at that
time was pretty sketchy.
Not until I was in my middle 50s, however,
did I become suddenly and seriously interested. Then, with
a bit of encouragement from him, I began doing some research
and got hooked.
Although at least four general Crowson
books had previously been written, it had been years since
the latest one, and my own research was uncovering some
errors and many new pieces of information.

Also, there were some branches of the family that
had not yet been connected. What I undertook was to write a Crowson
book that would correct some prior errors, bring information up
to date, connect as many branches of the family as possible, and
combine what I considered to be the best features of the four books
previously written.
It took years to complete this work, but it was
fun! I hope the result is a book that will have the honor of having
its place on the shelves of many homes in which Crowson descendants
wonder about those mysterious ancestors who were responsible for
who we are.
